A baby naming ceremony is a celebration of the arrival of your new child. It is a very special way of welcoming your child and officially introducing him or her to your family and friends.

They involve the important people in your child’s life – family and special friends. Parents have the opportunity to ask other adults to play a supportive role to their child through to adult life (as Godparents, mentors or supporters).

Naming ceremonies can be performed for anyone, at any age. The arrival of a new baby, uniting of step or adopted children within a family, or an adult name change are all great reasons to hold a naming ceremony.

The content of a naming ceremony can consist of:
  • Introduction
  • Background on the family
  • The meaning of the name
  • Reading or Poem
  • Ritual e.g lighting of the candle, balloon release or planting of a tree
  • Acknowledgment of parents
  • Acknowledgment of Godparents/Mentors/Supporters
  • Acknowledgment of Grandparents
  • Naming
  • Signing & Presentation of Certificate
  • Conclusion
As your celebrant we will work together to create a unique ceremony that will be cherished for a lifetime.
